Well, this past weekend, for the first time, we revealed the new one-of-a-kind Super High Gloss Frosted Staging that can be used hundreds of exciting ways. And, I gotta tell you… the event planner, the host and hostess and all the guests loved and raved about it.

My strong hunch is you’ll want to incorporate this one of a kind new rental into your next event. In fact, you may want to us it as Dance Stages, Runways, a Complete Dance Floor, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg because the options seem almost endless.

Generally a DJ or Band will bring two speakers, place them left and right of the dance floor or stage, and call it a sound system.  Which it is.  But take a few extra minutes and think:

Will this sound system be of the quality that I want for my event?
Will everyone actually hear the same quality audio throughout the venue?
Will speeches be properly heard by every guest?  Including those behind the stage?
The speaker cabinets themselves;  Is the paint peeling, chipped and scratched?

Generally, a proper sound system will consist of 2 full range cabinets above 2 single 18″ sub-woofers for the mains.  Which is great for many events consisting of 75 to 200 guests.  Anything over 200 Guests, always be sure to ask yourself the above questions.  If your not sure, always consult with a local audio or production company.

• Be sure you have a back-up plan.  High winds and thunder storms with lightning, will 99% of the time put a hold on or move your wedding in-doors.  A tent is not a permanent structure, high winds could lift the tent.
• A larger tent is better, consider that most guests prefer to have room to move.
• Consider adding a flooring structure on uneven surfaces.  No one wants to eat sitting on a hill.
• Be sure you have rented a generator for power.  A small generator typically sold at a big box store is not nearly enough power for a band, lighting, catering, photographers, videographers, etc.
• Be sure to have some sort of ambient lighting for the tent.  Flood lights will attract numerous moths, etc.  Consider LED lighting to create any color at anytime during your wedding.
• Be sure to rent a dance floor, a white dance floor always makes a huge impact under a white tent.
• Consider adding a custom monogram decal to the dance floor for that added touch.
• Catering and bar tents will always need white lighting for general prep.
• Consider lighting the pathways or up-lighting the trees near the tent…this adds an amazing look and is a great way to wow guests one last time before they leave.
• Be sure all your guests can hear clearly.
• Don’t forget to check with your local city to check on permit requirements.

Our client had only a few requests: Bathe the room in an ice blue, light all of the beautiful centerpieces, and provide blue textured lighting to the draped ceiling treatment and make the hanging crystal beads stand out.

All of this was accomplished with LED Up-Lighting, 6 intelligent Lighting Fixtures and Over 60 Pin Spots to highlight the centerpieces and sweet tables.  One additional touch that was requested, was our 100% Pure White Dance Floor.  By including the White Dance Floor the color scheme really came to life.  This be mainly because light reflects back upwards helping to add to the ice blue feel.

Our client decided to use intelligent lighting, which is always a great addition for any event.  Then not only are we able to add texture and movement to your event, but we also are able to provide controlled dance floor lighting once the party kicks into high gear.

GOBO:  I get asked this all the time; what exactly is a GOBO and where does the word come from?  The word GOBO is actually an acronym meaning “GOes Before Optics.”  A GOBO is a circular steel stencil or Full Color Glass image that is put over a light to project a design or pattern. Popular gobo designs are monograms, dates, or any other wedding graphic. The most popular and cost effective form of a GOBO is stamped out of steel, while a more intricate design must be laser etched out of stainless steel or glass that can withstand high heat.

LED LIGHTING:  As technology advances so does lighting. LED, Short for “Light-Emitting Diodes” is becoming extremely popular.  LED Lighting is so popular for the following reasons; no heat, low power consumption, many fixtures are completely wireless, and the color options are practically endless.

PIN SPOT: The “Pin Spot” is an actual fixture type, not a lingo term.  Pin spotting, table lighting and centerpiece lighting, would be considered the lingo referring to the use of the “Pin Spot” Fixture.  The Pin Spot fixture produces an extremely narrow beam of light, which produces an amazing effect when highlighting a head table arrangement or wedding cake.
